Discover, Feel, Learn: Inside Our Sensory Workshop

Sensory Workshop has been getting creative and reflective. We have been thinking about textures that can help us feel calm. The children explored a range of materials and chose textures they found soothing or interesting. These were used to create a sensory regulation board, supporting children to notice what helps them feel calm. The children also really enjoyed making their own salt dough before rolling, shaping and cutting it into coasters. We then pressed shells into the dough to create imprints and patterns. Once they had dried, the children painted their finished coasters, creating some lovely individual designs to take home.
If you would like to try making salt dough at home, here is the recipe:
- 250g plain flour
- 125g salt
- warm water
Mix together into a dough. Roll, shape and decorate. Leave to air dry or bake on a low heat until hardened.
