Religious Education
Our aim is that pupils will be provided with the knowledge and understanding to explore a range of religions and worldviews, enabling them to reflect on their own beliefs and develop respect for the beliefs of others. Through our Religious Education curriculum, we aim for our pupils to become thoughtful, inquisitive individuals who can engage in meaningful discussion about religion, values and ethics, and understand the role that faith and belief play in people’s lives.
At WPS, we follow an agreed syllabus for Religious Education in line with the UK National Curriculum, ensuring coverage of a range of major world religions and non-religious worldviews. In Key Stage 2, our curriculum is closely informed by the Opening Worlds curriculum, which supports the development of pupils’ substantive knowledge, whilst allowing flexibility to meet the needs of our school.
The religions and worldviews taught at WPS are:
-
Christianity
-
Hinduism
-
Islam
-
Buddhism
-
Sikhism
-
Humanism
