In Year 3 and 4, the pupils have been learning about traditional Chinese music and dragon dances, linked to the Chinese New Year. This week they learned that traditional Chinese music often uses a pentatonic scale and then practised playing the pentatonic scale and some pentatonic melodies on the new glockenspiels that the WSA had kindly purchased for us! Next week They will be composing their own melodies using the pentatonic scale. The children have really enjoyed learning more about Chinese traditions and performing their melodies.
