The Willingham Book wander - May

In honour of 'Star Wars Day' (May the 4th be with you...), we've decided to recommend some out-of-this-world space/sci-fi-themed books for the month of May.

EYFS - Welcome to Alien School (Caryl Hart)

It's just another regular school day for Albie - or is it?

When Mum's car transforms into a rocket and takes Albie to alien school, this school day is far from ordinary!

There's space-ghetti for lunch, alien spellings to learn and a teacher with six arms. School has never been so much fun!

KS1 - The King of Space (Jonny Duddle)

With the help of unsuspecting friends, Rex creates an army of warbots with dung-blasters and begins his conquest of the known worlds to become the King of Space. But when he goes too far, only one person can save him from the wrath of the Galactic Alliance - his tough-talking mum!

LKS2 - Cakes in Space

Astra and her family are travelling through space to a new home on Nova Mundi, when their space ship is attacked!

Killer cupcakes, batty battenbergs, and marauding muffins - cakey fiends are on the loose! It's up to Astra and her robot friend, Pilbeam, to stop them before they destroy her ship... After all, people should eat cakes, not the other way round...

UKS2 - Phoenix

THE SUPERNOVA IS COMING . . . ONE BOY ALONE CAN SAVE THE GALAXY!

Lucky thinks he's an ordinary Human boy. But one night, he dreams that the stars are singing - and wakes to find an uncontrollable power rising inside him.

Now he's on the run, racing through space, searching for answers. In a galaxy at war, where Humans and Aliens are deadly enemies, the only people who can help him are an Alien starship crew - and an Alien warrior girl, with neon needles in her hair.

Together, they must find a way to save the galaxy. For Lucky is not the only one in danger. His destiny and the fate of the universe are connected in the most explosive way . . .
