Year 2: Apples

In Year 2, we were drawing apples from observation and learning to blend oil pastel to produce more subtle colours.

There were apples on each table for the children to observe. We noticed how the different colours ran into each other. We also discussed the properties of oil pastel and experimented with baby oil  as a blending agent.

The children really enjoyed using the cotton buds to blend the colours together. 

Once the apples were finished, we added a simple background:
